HPL AI Policy Collaborative: Teacher Use of AI

Location: Livestream

Higher-Powered Learning

Higher-Powered Learning is leading a summer AI Policy Collaborative, designed for Catholic school and (arch)diocesan leaders who are actively working on AI guidance, handbook language, implementation plans, and faculty expectations for the upcoming school year. Rather than serving as traditional “information sessions,” these calls are intended to be collaborative working sessions where leaders can share questions, discuss emerging practices, reflect on ethical and developmentally appropriate AI use, and leave with stronger policies, clearer guidance, and practical next steps for implementation.

As AI tools become increasingly integrated into education, schools are working to clarify what responsible and professional AI use by educators should actually look like in practice. While many teachers are already experimenting with AI for lesson planning, communication, and productivity, leaders are also navigating important questions around transparency, privacy, grading, professional judgment, and teacher expectations.

This collaborative session will focus on teacher use of AI tools in Catholic school settings, including both the opportunities and the important boundaries schools may need to establish. Topics may include what effective AI use by teachers actually looks like, what responsibilities should not be outsourced to AI, teacher AI literacy and prompting practices, and faculty-facing guidance related to AI use. Participants will have opportunities to discuss real implementation questions, share examples, and collaboratively think through emerging challenges and best practices. RSVP on Zoom.
